Overview

The
Technology & Design Department at Daramalan College is well
equipped to offer students a diverse range of Technology courses
and experiences. The department has 10 separate workspaces including
a textiles and design studio; computer lab with the latest 3D modelling,
cad, office and internet software; two design and drawing rooms;
two Wood Technology workshops; a Metals and Engineering workshop
and an Automotive Technology and Engineering workshop. There are
also some outdoor areas and projects that the department has been
developing including a rain water tank and irrigation system, timber
outdoor decking and oil seperator unit.
The department has a variety of machines and equipment that allows
students to use numerous technology processes to design and make
projects. There are hand tools, portable electric and cordless tools,
fixed machines and computer controlled machines.
Competitions
RACV
Energy Breakthrough
The annual RACV Energy Breakthrough is a terrific design and technology
challenge that requires students to design, make and test an energy
efficient vehicle. The vehicles are presented to a judging panel,
scrutinised by engineers and then raced for 24 hours in the small
Victorian town of Maryborough.

AGL
Sustainable Living Competition:
Students
are encouraged to enter the AGL Sustainable Living Competition sponsored
by the University of NSW. Any environmentally friendly projects
are eligible for their share of prizes to the value of $30000.
